The atmosphere in City of Life's sanctuary this past Sunday was electric. Over 250 students who had just returned from Soulfire took center stage, not as passive observers, but as bold ministers carrying the fire of God into the service.
This wasn't just a youth camp testimony service. This was a divine download of revival fire that the students brought back to ignite the entire church family.
The Mind: From Battleground to Holy Ground
At Soulfire, a truth was confronted that applies to every generation: the enemy loves to make our minds a battleground. Whether you're 14 or 74, anxiety, confusion, fear, and identity struggles are real battles we all face. But Romans 12:2 reminds us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Pastor Jessica shared her own personal testimony of severe anxiety as a teenager, and how this anxiety nearly thwarted her calling and purpose. The enemy wanted her to live defined by fear, but when Jesus took hold of her life at age 18, everything changed. She was delivered by the power of the Holy Spirit, replacing anxiety with boldness, fear with confidence. That same freedom is available to every generation in our church family.
Three Steps to Mental Freedom
Pastor Jessica shared three steps to freedom from mental battles:
1. Resist the World and the Enemy
James 4:7 declares, "Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." We must recognize there's a real enemy prowling around, seeking to devour our families and students. There's never been a generation more crippled by anxiety than today's young people. Social media has created what some call "the Gen Z stare," a paralyzing social anxiety. But God says this generation can have holy minds, regardless of what the world tries to label them.
2. Submit to Christ's Lordship
2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." We love Jesus as Savior, but struggle to let Him be Lord over our minds (what we watch, think, and dwell on). True freedom comes when we submit our thought life completely to His leadership.
3. Renew Your Mind Daily
When we resist and submit, our minds become places where heaven speaks. Imagine 250 people with renewed minds, no longer clouded by TikTok noise, relationship drama, or endless distractions. That's what we witnessed at Soulfire—minds clear enough to hear from God and be filled with His Spirit.
A Generation Marked by God
What happened at Soulfire was unprecedented. These students arrived hungry for God, ready to encounter Him. We watched as 14 and 15-year-olds received their prayer language, began prophesying, and speaking out God's promises. It was straight out of the Book of Acts.
But the real test wasn't at camp, it's what happens when they return home. These students have drawn a line in the sand, declaring "no more" to generational cycles of addiction, anxiety, and compromise. They've decided to live fully for Jesus, becoming the catalysts for change in their households, schools, and communities.
Your Mind Can Be Holy Ground Too
The freedom these students found isn't reserved for teenagers. Whether you're battling anxiety, struggling with identity, or fighting mental battles, God wants your mind to be holy ground. The same Jesus who delivered these students is ready to transform your thought life.
Don't let the enemy convince you that you're too old, too set in your ways, or too far gone. God specializes in the impossible. He hears your cries, sees your struggles, and is waiting for you to surrender your battles to Him.
Romans 12:2 isn't just for students, it's for every believer ready to experience the renewing of their mind. When you resist, submit, and allow God to renew your thinking, your mind becomes a place where heaven speaks and revival begins.
The fire that fell at Soulfire is still burning. The question isn't whether God can transform your mind—it's whether you're ready to let Him turn your battleground into holy ground.
