Receive What You Believe

Pastor Jeffrey Smith

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

Prayer is about building an atmosphere of faith, and it’s how we stay in the realm of faith. We want to do things that build our faith and prayer is one of them. If you want an effective prayer life, then believe you have received what you have prayed for.

This scripture is so simple. What it's essentially telling us is that most of the time when you pray and you don't get what you're asking for, you're not really believing for what you're asking for, you’re wishing. Prayer is not about wishing, it’s about believing and believing comes through faith. Prayer comes from a place of faith, not just wishing or reciting, because there is no power in those things. Powerful prayer comes from a place of belief.

How many times do we pray for things that we don’t believe? If your prayers are filled with unbelief, then they become ineffective. Unbelief will get on you if you don’t protect yourself. You need to get around people who have faith. Get away from all the people that pretend to have faith and get around the people that actually have some faith. You may have to have dinner with that person or be more intentional about getting those kinds of people in your life. Do what you need to do to make sure you are building an atmosphere of faith in every part of your life, including in your relationships.

When you choose to pray from a place of belief and surround yourself with people who are also praying faith-filled prayers, then you will begin to walk out an effective prayer life and actually start to receive what you believe.
