An Atmosphere of Amen and Hallelujah

By Pastor Jeffrey Smith

“Amen” is not just something you say at the end of the prayer before a meal; it actually means “truth” or “be so in my life.”  You can boldly say it at the beginning or at the end of all your prayers.

Psalms 106:48 invites all the people to say “amen” when giving praise to the Lord, before and after the promises of God are spoken: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, ‘Amen!’”

Speaking “amen” is making a covenant in faith to live out what was heard, saying, “Let it be so over my life.” It’s a confession. It’s a commitment.

Jesus prayed in Matthew 6:9 for “God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We take control of the atmosphere around us on earth when we confess “amen” to God’s will for our lives. We actively set the atmosphere of God’s kingdom in our home, relationships, jobs, and church when we proclaim, “Amen!”

But this doesn’t just happen by itself. Faith to say “amen” is not passive. It is active. It requires a forging or stepping out. Seeing heaven on earth requires us to actively forge that atmosphere in faith.

Hallelujah also forges that atmosphere in our lives as it shouts, “Praise to Jehovah!” Instead of emotions dictating our atmosphere, we set the atmosphere by declaring praise to Jehovah. Boldly declare “hallelujah” over your family, your work, your house, and over all the surrounding circumstances.

When we begin to appreciate and honor the things of God, we prepare a place for the atmosphere of God by declaring “amen” and “hallelujah.” God comes and overwhelms us with a presence and atmosphere so great that miracles become accessible. All things become possible. Actively forge the atmosphere in life with an “amen” and “hallelujah!”
