He is My Helper

By Pastor Jeffrey

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” -John 14:26 ESV

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, comes from the Greek word paraklÄ“tos, which means comforter, to walk along side of.

Jesus said the Holy Spirit is the one who will walk alongside of us. He will help us. He will never leave us and will never forsake us.

He will be our counselor and our advocate, which in a legal sense means "one who is called to aid." He will plead our case before the judge and be our intercessor.  You see, He is our helper everywhere we go.

When you walk into a room, He's going to tell you what to say and tell you how to respond.  For every situation that you walk into, He will help you because part of the trinity lives in your heart. He’s with you and in you.

“Jesus said…’Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’ By this he meant the Spirit….”  -John 7:37-39

The rivers are the person of the Holy Spirit flowing out of our hearts and spirit.

The Holy Spirit helps navigate the challenges in our lives. When we don’t have anything good to say, He gives us something good to say. He is our helper.

Jesus’ last words to His disciples in Acts 1:8 were to let us know that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us and that then we will be witnesses to the ends of the earth. We are supposed to live with power in our lives. Everything we do can have the power of the Holy Spirit flowing out of us.

This is Jesus’ promise to believers and He is here today waiting for you to know Him. The Helper is walking alongside of us.
